Today is National Wear Red Day®. The National Wear Red Day® campaign raises awareness of heart disease – the #1 killer of women.

Understand Your Risk Factors for Heart Disease

The American Heart Association® posted an interactive exercise on their website that allows users to assess their risk factors for heart disease and contemplate a plan for action. Indicators of heart disease in women may manifest differently than indicators of heart disease in men.

Recognize the Symptoms of a Heart Attack:
Dizziness
Shortness of breath
Nausea/vomiting
Pain/Discomfort radiating to the jaw, arm(s), neck, or back
Sweating

Call 911!

Get Trained in CPR

A CPR training video may also be found on the American Heart Association® website.

Prevent Heart Attacks:

Eat heart-healthy foods
Limit cholesterol intake
Exercise at least 30 minutes per day
Lose weight
Stop smoking
Reduce sugar in the diet
